Frankie O’Dell Sets New WSOP Record With $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Bracelet Win

Frankie O Dell landed the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship title last night for $443,641, in the process becoming the 97th player in WSOP history to win at least 3 gold bracelets!

By: Andrew Burnett

O’Dell’s 3rd bracelet makes him the only player to have three Limit O8 bracelets, a fact he was quick to share with reporters: "Well if you don't know, there's only one person who has three limit Omaha eight bracelets and you're talking to him. So until someone passes me or catches me, I'm not going to say nothing. I'm just going to leave it right there."

It was far from a walk in the park for the Long Beach man, O’Dell quick to praise his fellow “warriors” at the final table, including Robert Mizrachi and his fellow Californian Owais Ahmed.

"It was a war because you have warriors in there”, said O’Dell, adding: “You have one of the Mizrachi f****ing great player brothers, then you got one of the guys who knows almost everything on Stud and Omaha Hi-Lo. Then you have me, old school poker".

His ‘old school poker’ had brought him his previous WSOP titles in 2003 and 2007, with several near-misses in the intervening decade and more.

When he fought his way back from having less than a small blind at one point, the tide had turned and O’Dell would go on to defeat Ahmed heads-up.

"Basically, the wind blew my way and I got the win," he said afterwards, dedicating the bracelet to his new grandson Luciano.
