Chow Hing Yaung Takes Down Triton PLO Title For $336,000

The steady stream of talented Malaysian players was seen yet again in the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in Montenegro, Chow Hing Yaung scooping the HKD200k ($25,500) PLO title and HKD2,640,000 ($336,000).

Short Deck poker is the most popular non-NLHE variant among the Triton SuperHighRoller crew, but this time Pot Limit Omaha got the nod too and 37 entries ensured a very healthy HKD 6,956,000 ($886,347) prizepool.

Among the PLO contenders in the Maestral Casino and Resort were Isaac ike Haxton, Gabe Patgorski and Mike Watson and as PLO fans will know only too well, the swings in fortune were at times brutal.

With only five players promised a payday, a little good fortune was required – and Ben Lamb was the recipient when his kings vs aces showdown saw a fortuitous flop at the right time…

Henrik Hecklen couldn’t repeat his victory from the previous day’s ‘Tim Adams Invitational’, but 4th place and another payday ($106,600) was a worthy result. Once the Russian contender Osipov departed in 3rd spot (for $146,900) we were heads-up.

With the blinds forcing the play, Ben Lamb and Hing Yaung Chow finally got it all-in – a rivered straight giving Malaysia their first-ever Triton Poker victory.

“I’m very happy,” Chow said afterwards. “First trophy of all the Malaysian players!”

Final results

1 Hing Yaung Chow $343,200
2 Ben Lamb $221,780
3 Viacheslav Osipov $146,900
4 Henrik Hecklen $106,600
5 Wai Leong Chan $85,800
